COMING NEXT WEEK:
Guest blogger Margo Trott, an intrepid reporter and professional vacation destination tester, is on a mission to discover just how diverse, exceptional and fun Sin City really is.
I am experienced professional. I know that sometimes the job of a freelance journalist can be a brutal, even painful, quest for answers to complex and difficult questions about the world we live in.
Luckily for me, this is not one of those times.
I’m goin’ to Vegas, baby! And I’m doing it all for you, because that’s just the kind of selfless humanitarian I am.
That’s right. Every day for five days I will be running around Sin City and reporting on the Las Vegas you don’t always hear about, but should. I’m talking about the all the diverse places and sites in this vacation destination that is like no other on the planet. From the ultra new and modern to the great homages to days gone by, from the luxurious and the trendy to the unpretentious and the off-beat, Las Vegas really does have something for everybody.
From Monday through Friday, I’ll be Twittering from my embedded vantage point and blogging a unique "Vegas Top 10" list, which will be posted the following morning, so you will not miss a thing.
Iobst Travel has arranged everything for me, so you know it’ll be an exciting and hassle-free experience. Here’s is a preview of some of the great places I’ll be reporting on:
The brand-spanking-new and amazing Aria Resort and Casino
- Cirque du Soleil's new show “Viva Elvis”
- White Glove Tours "Champagne Night Tour"on board their totally tricked-out ROCK STAR bus
- The Liberace Museum
- The Pinball Hall of Fame
- Gold & Silver Pawn Shop from the History Channel’s popular “Pawn Stars” program
And, because investigative reporting such as this always makes me hungry, here’s a sampling of the culinary delights I will be in search of in Las Vegas:
- Best all-you-can-eat buffet
- Best custard
- Best cannoli
I’ll also be finding you insider tips and suggestions for an authentic Las Vegas experience from local celebrities and the interesting folks that work and live there.
Be sure to subscribe to this blog to catch my daily reports, or follow Iobst Travel on Facebook or Twitter to keep up with all the action. You'll never know when something might show up on YouTube, either. I’ll be taking requests all week here at the Iobst Travel American Express blog, so if you’ve always wondered about a certain Las Vegas casino, restaurant, shop or other attraction, let me know and I’ll try to check it out while I’m there. Got a hot tip on one of Vegas’s unique attractions for me? Please share them. I consider it my duty to hit as many Vegas attractions as you need to learn about.
Margo Trott is a freelance writer whose riveting exposé on vanishing cultural treasures of Las Vegas published on her Ladies’ Home Journal blog “Ha, Ha, Ha...No, Seriously” has won her no journalistic accolades whatsoever. When she is not covering topics about travel, landscaping, health, nutrition or exercise, she is busy writing overly complimentary bio lines about herself, just in case no one is.
Special thanks to the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority for their help with this project. You guys are great!
I can't wait to hear all about Las Vegas! I haven't been there in over 30 years! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!!!!

Thanks, Sue!
A good friend of mine just told me about how she and her husband renewed their wedding vows at the Elvis Chapel in Vegas. I just learned that they actually do live Internet broadcasts of the ceremonies so friends and family can watch from all over the world.
Apparently, everything that happens in Vegas only stays in Vegas if the webcam is turned off!

This sounds great! Perhaps, like Elizabeth Gilbert, you will write a New York Times bestseller... you could call it "Eat, Play, Lose". Ahhh, sounds like such fun. I'll be sure to follow your blog from the cool blue skies of the Canadian Rockies, where we'll be for the next month.

Thank you, Rossana. The Canadian Rockies sound like a great summer vacation destination, especially during this heat wave. Keep us posted here on how you like it.

Inquiring minds want to know: How jumbo is the jumbo shrimp cocktail? I want photographic evidence. (I really love shrimp cocktail.)

As the Spirit of Elvis is my witness, you shall have your answer, Beth U!

Back from Vegas and ready to report with authority that the jumbo shrimp cocktails are really and truly jumbo.
I would have photographic evidence for Beth U., but I felt compelled to eat the shrimp immediately in order to ensure I tested their flavor at its peak. I'm happy to report that every jumbo shrimp cocktail I encountered in Las Vegas was excellent. Isn't that really what matters most?
